Hi, I’m Shannon. I write around these here parts.

I’m a forty-something living in Ottawa. I have a daughter, A, and a husband, also known as The Husband. I have a dog named Beagle. We’re pretty literal around here.

I worked in high tech for many years. I worked in technical sales support, business analysis and project/engagement management at companies like JetForm, Adobe, Tomoye and Overlay.TV. Now, I’m a full time mom, blogger, writer, consultant and social media darling. I develop content and handle communications for BlissDom Conferences, which is crazy fun and totally amazing.

Here’s where I currently write or have written:

zchamu.com - my personal blog. Where you are!

Care2 Causes - where I write about current events and social issues.

The Bad Moms Club - where every day is a good day to be a Bad Mom.

Draft Day Suit - where I write about sports. Snarkily.

Have You Had That Baby Yet? - where I only wrote one word, but it still gets 5,000 hits a week.

ecochick.ca - where I write about environmentally friendly products available in Canada. This site is currently pretty quiet.

I also appear at conferences and seminars to talk about blogging and social media. Here’s where I’ve been:

I talked about Emerging Trends and Technology at the Women In Film Festival in Vancouver in 2009.

I discussed Blogging For Social Action, Community And Empowerment: The Beauty Of The Butterfly Effect at BlissDom Canada in Toronto in 2010.

I talked to people about What Happens When You Publicize Your Passion? at the Mom 2.0 Summit in New Orleans in 2011.

I also spoke about Earning Dividends On Your Blogging Investment at Social Capital in Ottawa in 2011.

I led a panel on The Revolution WILL Be Tweeted: Using Social Media For Social Good at BlissDom Canada 2011 in Toronto.

I co-host the Ottawa Brain Drain events with Andrea Tomkins, a sorta-monthly gathering to talk about trends in social media.

My Klout score as of October 2012 is 61. Does that mean I get 61 cookies?

Let’s talk. email me at zchamu at gmail dot com. Or if it’s BlissDom Biz, email me at shannon at blissdomevents dot com.

Good morning Shannon,

I hope you are well!

For most Canadian families, fall means getting back to routines. While most Canadians (82%) say keeping a routine is important to their family, half admit it’s hard to stick to one. And when routines are abandoned, healthy diets are often the first to go. In a recent survey, two in three (65%) Canadians agreed that they don’t eat as well as they should when they fall out of routine.

Lydia Knorr, mom of three, Registered Dietitian and Yoplait spokesperson, will be in Ottawa on Tuesday, September 18 to offer some expert tips to help families get back into the groove of a healthy routine.

More specifically, Lydia can share tips on maintaining a healthy routine such as:
-Eat breakfast everyday to keep energized and fuelled for the entire day
-Plan meals ahead by creating a weekly menu that makes shopping and nutrition a breeze
-Create a wall calendar with appointments, chores and extracurricular activities all consolidated in one space

If you would like to join us at Metropolitain Brasserie at 1:30 p.m. for a coffee and a quick bite to learn more about routines and healthy eating with Lydia, please contact me at (416)-934-8418 or [email protected]

Thanks,

Anita
