Life List
I have meant to sit down and build this life list for some time. But I wasn’t really sure what to put on it. Then I was on Pinterest and something inspired me, and now I can’t stop.
- Have professional family portraits taken by a real photographer.
- In Paris.
- And London.
- And wherever we might go.
- See the Pyramids.
- Create a beautiful, tasteful, well-designed yet eco-friendly home.
- Write a book.
- Get it published.
- Learn how to take really, really, really good photographs.
- Take really, really, really good photographs all over the place.
- Try rock climbing.
- Learn to bake really, really delicious homemade bread.
- Do more for people who need it.
- Go to more Balls where you wear fancy dresses.
- Spend a month in Italy and learn how to order food in Italian.
- (Re)learn how to knit so I can make this.
- Learn what I’m actually doing in the garden so that I can create a gorgeous one instead of one that looks like the one in front of the abandoned home down the street, except that mine is a little more expensive.
- Ditto for growing something edible in the vegetable garden.
- Sculpt. Or pottery class. Whatever.
- Go to the Monaco Grand Prix and watch the race from a balcony.
- Spend a few weeks in Ireland, travelling, eating, drinking, and photographing.
- Drink more wine.
- Drink more bourbon.
- Travel to India to be intoxicated by the sights and colours and scents.
- Sit peacefully in the Vatican until I feel the need to leave.
- Attend Evensong at Westminster Abbey.
- Get something I’ve written published in print.
- Travel to Australia while I’m still young enough to look decent in a bathing suit.
- Do a Photo A Day project for a year. Difficulty: Self portraits.
- Teach my child everything.
- Love my child forever.
… more to come.

Coming from a family that cuts off heads/feet (or has no film in the camera at convocation) and marrying someone who cuts off my chin with his iPhone, I delighted in winning a portrait session with Helene Anne Fortin in Wakefield, Quebec. Our portraits are now hung on the walls, leaving me in awe every time I see them.. wow! that’s us. Highly recommend visiting Helene Anne’s studio.. you’ll never see a photo the same way again.
