We’re having a good summer if it kills us all.

For years, I haven’t really enjoyed summer.

(Enter the pitchforks and rotten eggs.)

I know. What’s wrong with me, right? Summer! Outside! Heat! Fun! GODDAMMIT! GO HAVE FUN!!

Exactly. Summer is SO MUCH PRESSURE, and I’m lazy. I’m not a planner, so every weekend seemed to roll around with nothing on the offer. Then the Husband and I would look at each other and go… so. What are we doing this weekend? And then we’d sort of halfheartedly look at the newspaper listings and think GOD that sounds hot and crowded and then we’d maybe go for breakfast and then sit in the house with the AC cranked feeling like complete failures. Then fall would roll around and we’d get back in to some sort of routine and my main feeling about the end of summer was just plain relief.

Not any more. I’m taking this summer by the tail, I’ve decided. From now til Labour Day I am going to kick this summer’s ass if it kills all of us.

Way to go! That’s a badass response to summer! There’s certainly nothing wrong with simply setting up a water table and sprinkler for a few of the really hot days. The kids love those things more than I will ever understand, lol!

The reason I take a day off at a time is because going for bike rides once a week takes up a lot of my time and I do not want to give it up. If I take a week off to go camping or something then I would need to make up for the time by not going for bike rides once a week.
